SBMP, Inc. was formed in 1989 by a group of insurance agencies located in and around the Lubbock, TX area. Their formation was sparked by the recent “hardening” of the insurance market in the state of Texas. The original group consisted of three individual insurance agencies. Today the remaining original founders are Joe Bob Mayo of Petersburg, Wayne Perrin and Ben Sims of Lubbock. SBMP, Inc. was formed in order to combine agent resources, insurance carrier capacity and industry expertise to ensure each individual agency retained the most competitive advantages in the tightening marketplace.

Today, SBMP, Inc. consists of more than 17 individually owned insurance agencies with more than 20 locations throughout the state of Texas. SBMP’s geographic spread and combined agency premium volumes have attracted the attention of some of the most sought after insurance carriers in the marketplace today. The geographic region our agencies comprise is bordered to the North by Floydada in the Texas Panhandle, to the South by Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country, to the East by Eastland located an hour west of the Metroplex and to the West by Midland in the Texas’ Oil and Gas Basin. With all of that spread, SBMP, Inc. covers more total square miles than some states!

Each of our insurance carriers have quickly grown to value our Agent – Carrier relationships. Each member agency values the highest ethical, moral and business integrity standards. Over the past 19 years, each carrier that has chosen to partner with SBMP, Inc. member agencies has come to recognize this fact. Our members place a high value on the Agent – Carrier relationship and work to improve and sustain those relationships on an ongoing basis.

In addition to the Agent – Carrier relationship each member agency also places a high value on the Agent Network that is SBMP, Inc. Because of the experience, knowledge and expertise of the member agencies, a vast resource of independent agents are available to assist other members with the placement of insurance, technological issues, vendor cost savings initiatives and with general business questions.
